The Industrial Assistance Section is part of the N.C. Division of Pollution Prevention and Environmental Assistance, a non-regulatory division within the N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

IAS staff provide environmental compliance and pollution prevention technical assistance at no cost to commercial businesses, local governments and industries. Services include identifying solutions to ensure organizations attain compliance, decrease liabilities and improve environmental performance.

IAS helps organizations reduce waste generation and associated management costs through customized waste assessments.

The Environmental Stewardship Initiative, a DENR program, is administered by IAS staff. ESI coaches work with members to reduce environmental impacts beyond regulatory requirements.
